This product does not perform a reliable test, particularly on an open ground. It uses neon bulbs, which draw almost no current. I just tested an outlet that I knew had an open ground and the tester showed a good ground. But if I test with a 15-watt light bulb from Hot to Ground, nothing. This is a “gotcha” in the Electrical trade that we all learn, that to reliably test any circuit you need to have some amount of load on it. This tester puts no load on the circuit and can show you have a reliable ground when you do not. I’m surprised because Klein has such a high reputation for Electrical tools, but whoever makes this tester for them is making a dangerously defective product.
