Bought this when I switched from cable to dish and my new receiver did not have the time on it. Place it on the TV stand under the TV, next to the receiver. It is the same color as my speaker system so it looked like it belonged there. We can easily read the time on it from across the room. At first, I almost thought it was too bright and was going to distract me when I was watching TV, but it was never a distraction. I only am drawn to it when I want to know what time it is. I will probably never use the alarm clock function on this, so I can't say how well that works or even what the sound is like. **UPDATE** SO we bought this in March of 2012. Come August 2012 one of the lights in the clock went out in the second digit bottom location. The 9 just has the o on the top with out the leg. Suddenly it looks like a cheap clock we picked up at a garage sale. Disappointed, cause it only lasted 5 months. There is also a weird issue that continues to occur. The time keeps advancing by about 1 minute every few weeks. This is odd seeing as it goes completely untouched. It goes unnoticed at first until you think it's time to go and as you are running out you can't help but notice that other clocks are five minutes "behind." Quite annoying and confusing at times.
