Quantum observer threw me off enough to make me stop reading at page 15
I just read the page about quantum observer effect and wave function collapse. At first I thought, "whoa, cool", and then decided to google it. Wikipedia says "In quantum mechanics, there is a common misconception that it is the mind of a conscious observer that causes the observer effect in quantum processes. It is rooted in a misunderstanding of the quantum wave function". And now I'm heavily doubting anything this author claims because his quantum observer argument doesn't seem to be backed by peer-reviewed science. I personally try to meditate everyday, but I mainly do it because THERE ARE peer-reviewed studies that showed benefits from meditation. I haven't felt too many affects myself yet. But maybe those who experience positive effects from meditation are those who are new-age mystics (which i don't consider myself one), and if I don't believe in quantum observer thingy that this book is espousing, then my meditation would be useless and I'm doomed to forever not be successful? I duno, fml. Also, I think from now on, I'm gonna be wary of authors who don't have a wikipedia article and who put "Dr." in front their name on their books. Neil Degrasse Tyson, Stephen Hawking, and Steven Weinberg don't put "Dr." in front of their names on the books they've written (and those guys have PhDs and Nobel Prizes in physics and quantum physics)
