Updated review: avoid at all costs
Third update: This company is horrible, and the product is worse. They advertise 6 month battery life, but within 60 days, the battery only last 5-6 days. I have this on minimal notification settings. When you contact support, they give you the runaround in an attempt to exhaust you. They say things like “restart the camera” over and over again until you are out of warranty. This company is a huge scam, their support is horrible, and I’ve kicked off a website to gather plaintiffs for a class action lawsuit. Stay far, far away from this company. Second update: support is still horrible, but the camera are above average, the app is above average and it serves the purpose. If you can figure out your support issues on your own, you are golden. — Initially I wrote a 5 star review. I really did enjoy the app and the camera. When iOS14 was pushed, the app stopped working. In other words, the camera is not functional because you cannot view the camera, set the alarms, etc. When the app is down, everything is down. When attempting to get support, they outsource their support to who knows where. This is directly from their support staff, "The support for Arlo are outsourced to different countries around the world. The number I provided is for customers that is based in the US. The call will be routed to the next available agent." They say things like "I understand your problem is the app crashing. Is that correct?" They will continue to repeat the same questions over and over, and provide no support until you are exhausted. Very similar to dealing with Comcast or Verizon. In this day and age, companies that outsource their support this early in their trajectory (e.g., gaining customers, popularity, etc.), when they haven't proven themselves yet, is a huge disappointment. Arlo will fail for this reason, just like Canary before them and many others. Quite a shame they decided to go cheap in the most critical part of customer retention. At the end of the day though, they aren't even able to support iOS14 and if you have an iPhone, your app will stop working. Arlo is a very amateur company, and I would reconsider purchasing from them unless it's a "one and done" purchase. Anything more sophisticated, you'll want to go with a brand that has more technical and support infrastructure. This is a one-and-done type of purchase - don't buy more than a camera from Arlo.
