Pay Anywhere Buyer Beware!
PAY ANYWHERE BUYER BEWARE
I see you have reviews on mobile credit card readers and wanted to share a recent experience with the Pay Anywhere.
We signed up for an account, providing bank statements etc. We were easily approved.
Pay Anywhere sent us their card reader, we ran a `test' transaction of three cents. It processed quickly and successfully.
When it came time for us to process a real transaction in the amount of $6500, the transaction was processed by Pay Anywhere - the customer's credit card was charged. The customer and ourselves where sent a confirmation receipt from the Pay Anywhere system.
A few days later, Pay Anywhere sent us an email stating the transaction had been flagged for underwriting and we needed to provide them our banks statements, the customer invoice. We did so immediately, additionally including the customer's contact information and the photo of his drivers license we took at the time of the transaction. In the day and age of identity theft and credit card fraud, we understood the reason for the request.
Pay Anywhere stated it would take 2-4 days to process. We checked back with our customer to see if his credit card showed the charge was reflected on his transactions. It was.
We contact Pay Anywhere again - and are now being told they are not going to release the funds for 180 days. (Yes, that's 6 months!) For a startup business - that's a killer on our cash flow.
When asking why the hold - NOW they say we are too much risk because there is not `enough activity on the banks statements'.
We explained we are a startup business, and that all the documentation was sent, approved and the transaction was not prevented by their system to reflect this `risk'. Pay Anywhere then got very nasty and stated it was in our contract. Upon asking for a copy of the contract, I was assured it would be sent by email.
A week later-still no contract, no money or contact from Pay Anywhere.
When we call Pay Anywhere customer service tells us the "account assurance rep" is out to lunch, on a break, in a meeting, hang up, transfer and hang up, etc.
My customer was charged using Pay Anywhere - and we the merchant - still have not received the money.
We are writing to send you a buyer beware.
