Maybe I Just Got A Bad One
I was really excited to get this, and it lived up to the sound/picture issues(visuals are excellent-- I noticed a lot of new things in a few movies I have seen many times...), However, it reminds me of a Playstation 2 or something. It looks nice but the power adapter and the cable to your TV(which I know you can replace...)seemed on the cheap end. I liked the controller, and it worked well w/my Sony TV, which was cool. It is any easy set up too.
The bad news--constant freezing after I watched 2 movies. Would not rewind or skip to the next chapter. You had to restart the unit, and even then there were still a lot a freezes and little hiccups in the frame rate. The first 2 movies were played perfectly. I even retried the ones that played fine a 2nd time just to make sure it wasn't the disc I was trying to play. But it happened w/the previous discs that had previously played perfectly. I tried a reg blu ray too and it did the same thing.
The other thing I noticed is it seems the unit gets very hot after even a 3 or 4 hour run of watching stuff. I had it in a very open space w/nothing over it or around it too.
I will prob look at getting one that is a little more costly, as I like the features of the 4K discs. And at least this unit gave me an idea of what they were all about, and I really enjoyed the 2 movies I saw('Bladerunner' and 'The Shining'). Amazing sound and def a better picture quality you really notice.
This player lasted a total of 6 hours. I just grew frustrated and hooked up my PS3 for blu-rays and DVD's; it is more than adequate, and it is very solid and reliable.
Like I said, I may have gotten a defective one, but was very unhappy w/the overall experience w/this. Great in concept though.
