I purchased this saw from amazon in 2014 for home use and it broke after using it to trim branches. The chain stopped turning and it made a loud grinding sound. It has been broken for a couple of years and hanging in my shop. I disassembled it today to determine the defective parts. It appears the motor bracket broke causing the pinion to be out of alignment with the ring gear resulting in excessive wear for both gears. I also noticed the insulation for the black power lead to the motor was damaged because it was not assembled properly. I recently discovered that the saw has a four year warranty, however I have not been successful in obtaining warranty support. I tried sending emails to Green Works and to parent company Maxtool. They both quickly responded to the emails. Maxtool recommended that I contact Green Works technicians by phone and Green Works requested that I do the same. I tried calling but the wait time is so long that I give up before I get to speak to a real person.
