Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

Well, I bought the hype. Read a 3 sentence gushing mini recommendation of "a great summer read", "the tension builds", blah, blah, blah. First off, it's Flashback City, forward, backward....sometimes it even fashes back to today. Sometimes flashbacks work beautifully for me. Not this time. Especially, when they repeated Oliver and Ciara's not-so-cute-meet in the grocery store. Then there's our girl-boy cop team; they're not very cute either, even when being a smidge flirty. So, four main characters, don't care for any of them. There's a body. We're not even sure if there's a murder. There's no evidence of anything and it takes the cops a while to put it togehter but they don't seem to be certain it's murder. Nor if they can sell their theory to the super. (Yawn). There was a killing some years ago, the criminals were caught and convicted and imprisoned. Oh, did I mention all this gets revealed with an amazing lack of tension. At about 50%, you realize you've got a clunker in hand. Finish it or cut your losses? I made the wrong decision and read every last boring word, based on all the hype that sucked me earlier and the galaxy of stars from Amazon readers. Ugh, who can I trust these days??? Not recommended.
