My heart, it is broken.
When I opened the box I was so excited to see my new sport cap. It was my first, and it was all shiny and threaded and had such a nice spout. The grand loop at the top called out for attention and said, "Look at me! I am spout and I am great!". And I agreed. Armed with my new Sport Cap I was ready for any and all adventures and knew I had a companion in whom I could trust. Before you knew it, we had become fast friends. All was well with the world.
Our friendship, and my trust of the little guy only continued to grow. At my side, there for me whenever I needed a nice cold drink. But then it happened. I noticed that our trust had been breached, at first it was s small drip here and there. The kind you could write off as a splash of water from a refill, maybe it was condensation. I now know I was clearly in denial.
The small drips turned into small puddles and then the unthinkable. A complete, full soak event. No longer could I ignore the elephant in the room. My spout was a failure.
Oh sure, the spout always knew it. From the start. It did its best to distract me but alas, eventually even I would catch on to the wet shorts, the embarrassingly hard to explain wet spot in the worst of all locations. The lack of hydration when i needed it most. It was the end of something that could have been so perfect. If only my spout could hold its water.
I have lost my trail companion, and I have had to face the hard questions like "Did you piss your pants?". Don't be me. Don't be fooled by the good looks. Find yourself another spout and save yourself the heartbreak.
