Chemical odor can cause respiratory distress. I bought this unit on July 1 and finally returned it to amazon this dec. for a full refund. Had sent the unit back to IQ air after having replaced the v5 cell after only a few weeks. The odor out of the box from the carbon filtration was very strong and distressing. Iq did replace all the filters as they said they were saturated and replaced the diffuser and both arms. If you pickup the unit by the handle to often the stress on the latching system will give way and a sound of whistling airflow can be heard. I was advised by IQ air staff to lift the unit from the bottom. After all filters werere replaced and the unit returned I ran it for 2 weeks in my sleeping area. My ferrets all developed chronic coughs and finally I too began developing a severe shortness of breath. Once the filter was removed all symptoms ceased and life returned to normal. even with all new filters the unit emitted a strong chemical odor. Buy with caution.
