I am a pro remodeler, and all my cordless tools are Makita. This is the first cordless Makita tool which I have felt is very lacking. I bought this model because of the brushless motor. I am willing to pay the premium price for the extra power and battery life. However, this saw has very strange behavior. Every time you pick the saw up, it has auto-locked. You are required to press a bubble-button to activate it again. Dumb. I want to pick up a tool and have it go as soon as I am ready to go. This is a major nuisance. In addition, the recip speed always starts at the minimum setting no matter where you set the speed dial. The saw will only speed up when it feels resistance on the blade. Makita claims that this saves battery life. While that may be true, it is a major production-killer. How can I quickly cut through low-resistance material if the blade won't speed up? Ridiculous. I do not need my tools to think for me. I need my tools to do what I tell them to when I tell them to do it. This saw is a waste of money.
