Go ahead and spend a few extra dollars on the Rainbow Loom kit. My daughter received the Rainbow Loom as a gift so I decided to get one for my younger daughter as well. The Royal Loom was cheaper and I thought it wouldn't be much different from the original. BIG MISTAKE. The loom is lopsided and the wells aren't deep enough to hook properly. The included hook is so flimsy that it won't hook doubled bands without bending - I don't expect it to last 24 hours. My younger daughter has been sitting by, waiting for her sister to finish "hooking" so that she can use her hook. The band quality is sub par (the white bands are yellowed) and they break easily so you have to be really careful when removing your design or risk having to start all over when a band snaps. I'll have to go out and buy a sturdier replacement hook tomorrow. I could have saved myself the hassle by spending a few extra dollars on the genuine Rainbow Loom. Save yourself the disappointment.
