Great Rack - Terrible Hardware
I would have given this 4, even 5 stars (based on value) but when value is achieved by shortcutting on the quality of bits that cost mere pennies to the manufacturer, but ultimately fail on the customer, causing damage to their belongings, it really can't be forgiven. I ordered 2 of these racks in October 2012, and they were fine until sometime during the evening of January 17, 2015, when the rack holding my lightest wheels/tires (lightweight Enkei's with relatively small tires) failed.
The failure actually began sometime within the prior week, because when parking my Subaru next to the racks, I found a sheared bolt head on the garage floor. I simply had no idea where it came from. But the rack collapsed when the second bolt failed, sending 3 wheels/tires crashing down onto my Subaru. The impact shattered my driver side Valenti taillight ($480/pair), which I now have to replace, pair only. I'm extremely angry about this...and this afternoon, found another reviewer who had the same thing happen on a rack they purchased in December 2012.
I still think the product itself is well designed and a good option for anyone not looking to break the bank just to put their wheels/tires away for the season. In fact, I need a third rack and will be ordering one. But I will be looking at the hardware used to bolt the rack to the wall and replacing it if it's the same ultra-low grade material. I re-mounted my two racks today using larger, better 5/16" lag bolts & washers.
