As a former chef instructor who used to sell Benriner slicers to my students...
I have sold well over 500 during my career...this product doesn't compare to the original. The blades are not sharp, the julienne blade is unable to cut a potato or carrot ~ the food jams before it can pass through the blades ~ rendering use of it extremely dangerous! The plate used to raise above the level of the slicing blade in a resting position as well as open entirely to a 90-degree angle , a safety feature that made cleaning it non-hazardous. It no longer raises or opens. I am very disappointed and would definitely not recommend it!
