Remember in season one when Naomi pulled Fred Johnson aside on Tycho and propositioned that "one day I may need you to find someone for me"? Well the great writers at Amazon obviously did their homework by watching up to that point and decided to clear up this glaringly unresolved plot hole by devoting an entire season to its resolution. To ensure the audience's attention is entirely fixated on Naomi's blossoming narrative arc, the crew of the rocinante is literally scattered across the solar system. Holden, amos, and other supporting actors take a backseat in season 5 so Naomi's gradual desexualization process from gear slut to meth mom can take center stage. In summary, I don't care about her kid. But we've been force fed 8 episodes of phillip/naomi/marco backstory after it never being mentioned once in the first 4 seasons... for perspective we got flashbacks during ONE episode explaining Fred Johnsons history. ONE episode with Holden's mom at the farm describing his upbringing. ONE episode with absaralla at home with her family. Flashbacks for the Mao girls, video calls with the pilot dude and his family. But we get 8 episodes of Nagata family drama dictated to the audience through soppy monologues vomited onto the screen by an unsympathetic mother figure. This show used to have great pacing- but it seems to have hit the ring gate going over the speed limit- and now the guts of this once great show are sprayed all over the interior of a dilapadated belter skiff
