Do NOY, NOT, NOT leave this harness on your dog full time! I really wanted this harness to be a miracle for our senior (14.5 yr old German Shepard) dog... And it was for 3 weeks. His back legs have been getting weaker and he has been having difficulty pushing himself up with them to stand. So this harness made it so much easier to help him up and to help walk him, so much easier than using a towel. Since the manufacturer said it could be left on all the time, that's what we did since it was tricky and not fun for the dog to keep taking it off and putting it back on. I would remove the harness about twice a week to clean it and my dog who is prone to accidents in the house. This week as I was removing the harness, I noticed his hind side was red and his fur rubbed off. I removed the rest of the harness to reveal a deep laceration in his side under the harness. It was so bad I immediately called the vet and took him in where he received 10 staples in his side!!! I am so traumatized thinking that I caused this pain to my poor baby. If you do decide to get this harness (as it did work great for what we needed it for) please add in extra padding to the back leg straps to thicken them and keep them from cutting into the leg. Also check your dog after each use to make sure there is no rubbing or cutting happening. The harness may hide any damage that is happening. And even though it may be an inconvenience, take the harness off at night or for a little while each day just to ensure no damage is happening. I would hate to see someone else's dog get hurt. The reason I gave one star even though I think the harness worked great is because of the lack of padding on the hind leg straps where must of the lifting will be done for your dog and obviously because of the damage the harness caused to my dog.
