So, most of us buy this kind of food for an emergency. The recent pandemic and resulting food shortages gave me the opportunity to try many of my freeze dried foods. This bucket had a package of food in it that was rock hard. I've eaten TONS of freeze dried meals- they are NEVER rock hard, they are always light, crisp and easy to re-hydrate. Never, ever are they a hard congealed brick. There is no way this meal was sealed properly. And absolutely no way I will eat it because if it was this hard, it had to have been exposed to water or worse. It is simply not safe. Because I purchased this a long time ago for an emergency, by the time the pandemic hit, it was LONG past the return date. I am appalled that this company can claim to sell you emergency food that you won't know has gone bad till you actually have an emergency. To be clear- I've had freeze dried food from 5-6 different companies and I have NEVER had a problem like this- so this is not a failure on my part- this is them selling bad food.
