Does not extract water on cut pile or plush carpet
The Amazon reviews were very positive; Consumer Reports ranked it #1. So why did I give it a 1 star? I have a cut pile carpet and nice thick area rugs. As I cleaned I noticed almost no water in the return tank. For deep pet cleaning, the detergent I bought recommended rinsing the carpet with water only after cleaning and extracting the water. No way this cleaner would extract anything but a cup or so of water. I talked to Bissell support and followed their suggestions. No go. By this time it was too later to return it to Amazon. Bissell exchanged it with a rebuilt one but I had to pay the shipping. The new one didn't extract either. I took it into the nearest repair facility. The tech poured water on a piece of industrial carpet with almost no pile. It extracted water. "It works," said he. "Your problem is the pile is too thick." Most decent carpet has nice pile. I do not understand the rave reviews. Only a couple mention it does not extract water. Did I get two bad units?
In any case I'm writing the a year ater purchase because I give up and am ordering a Hoover. The Hoover does extract water!!! Lots of water. Suggest you a Hoover.
