The author of this book describes herself as a feminist and this by its self doesn’t bother me but as I started reading the book, I found it to be full of strong anti-male, feminist points of view replacing questionable historical facts. This book is less about cryptozoology and the facts that surround these fantastic beasts and more about a strong feminist point of view on how men have destroyed everything they touch. In the unicorn section, the author describes the males of the era as often being drunk while on hunting parties and throwing spears at anything that moves. When history described unicorns as only being tamed by young maidens, the author states this as a “sexist view”. The author's strong feminist views and obvious hatred towards men takes away from what could be a great book.
