Bought the instant pot after reading such amazing things about it. I followed the initial steps, water test, cleaning, pre-use inspection. I bought about 60 dollars worth of food to cook for my first meal, shredded pork go figure. After turning it on, using the sear portion for the recommended time, and putting all my food in, it suddenly stopped. Turns out, the BASE had MELTED. First time use and the base melts, ruining my meal UPDATE: 17072015. After writing this review and emailing the makers of instant pot, Diane was very quick to get back to me and incredibly helpful in sorting out the issue. Amazon is also very helpful and will be sending out a replacement within the week. When the pot arrives, I'll be back to reevaluate my review. Great customer service all round. UPDATE: 03082015 Spoke to Amazon customer service who were more helpful in resolution of the issue in regards to sending the item back. Only after having talked to the makers, did they say that the pot needs to be plugged into 110V power outlets (i.e USA), vs our 220V (Australia) outlets. This information can be conveniently found on page 4 of their user manual, line 31. I had to escalate this to a supervisor, to prevent paying an extra 140 AUD to ship an item back to America that I could not use, but could be shipped to me without clear warning. Unless you have a AUS to USA Step down transformer for your house, do not buy this product in Australia!
