I pre-ordered this book and was excited to receive it in the mail today. The illustrations of the animals are adorable and really well done. However (and unfortunately, I find it to be a big one), the moon is the wrong shape. That's a pretty glaring error in a book *about* the moon. Also, the phases of the moon are out of order. In the book, the moon grows from crescent to full moon but then jumps straight to the new moon. The next page returns to the full moon and then wanes. I think the idea of a cutout book is fun and appealing to children and adults. In this case, though, a cutout can't be implemented without sacrificing accuracy and it ends up feeling gimmicky. If the book had used simple illustrations, it would have been just lovely. The moon could have been portrayed properly and the book could have been used to help teach children about the moon cycle.
