★★☆☆☆
Decent hardware for the price but software is very frustrating.
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Amazon customer support. After about 30 minutes of troubleshooting they deemed this a software issue. Apparently the device is not programmed to allow you to auto play videos unless you have a Wi-Fi connection. Even though the option is there in settings, for some reason it does not work unless connected to the Internet. I understand why they may want to do this for videos you have downloaded through prime membership however this should not be the case for videos you have purchased. My only option now is to hope and wait for them to add this feature in the next software update since I was told they would submit this feedback and request to the software team for inclusion. So, if you are planning to go on a road trip with your child and have their tablet mounted in the car somewhere for them to watch downloaded videos continuously, you are out of luck unless you have Wi-Fi in your car or are connected to your phone via hotspot. UPDATE 7/17/18: Frustrated with videos not auto playing when there is no WiFi connection, I decided to pay for a couple seasons of my daughters favorite shows thinking I would be able to auto play one after the other after downloading them. I thought surely it would let me now since I had paid and wasn’t using videos free with prime. To my disappointment, videos still would not auto play and the stupid 48 hour viewing disclaimer popped up. This is unacceptable Amamzon. Buyer beware. I wanted to be able to play videos for my daughter on road trips with the tablet nested I it’s head rest holder but can only play one video before needing to take it out and starting another. The tablet itself is worth the price however the software is a joke. First I found out there is no way to disable touch input while watching a video so a child young enough will constantly need someone to keep the video going. Second, I found out you cannot add downloaded Prime videos to your child's profile for no apparent reason. So if you pay for Prime and want to use your video benefit to add content for your child, you have to log in as an adult, giving them full access in order to play the content. Third, I discovered that videos will only auto play if the tablet is connected to wifi. This is absurd. The main reason I bought my 11 month old a tablet was to be able to play videos in the car on long rides to keep her happy. I made sure the auto play feature was turned on in settings and tried it out at home before my road trip. I downloaded a full season of children's programming and set out with my family. I couldn't understand why the video stopped playing after the first episode. We had to pull over so I could start the next episode and when the next failed to auto play I was very upset. When we got home, I tried again and it auto played. I thought at first it was because I had downloaded videos from my prime membership so I payed for a few seasons. After downloading the purchased seasons, I tried again in the car and sure enough the auto play did not work. Finally it clicked and I realized that the feature only works when the tablet is connected to wifi. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever come across. What possible purpose could this serve? This feature was purposely programmed that way. The auto play feature should not be contingent upon wifi connection, that doesn't even make sense. I am beyond frustrated with this operating system. It seems it is designed to make you connect to the internet so it can communicate data about your habits back to Amazon.
