Where do I even start. I'm so confused as to how all of these reviews are five star. This was second on the list of suggested straighteners for my search, and comparing it with the other "highest rated product" I decided to go with this one because it seemed like every review was five star. I don't really like the curl chart because I have no idea where I stand on it. I was born with thick, curly ringlets that have eventually turned to thick waves/ curls. I don't need to do much to make my curls look good but if I don't do anything then I'll have poofy hair right out of the shower. I have very long hair that reaches my lower back and it takes about a half hour to straighten with my old straightener. 10 minutes for the right side, and 20 minutes for the left. The right side simply parts easier so it doesn't take as much time. My last straightener broke so I picked this one. The moment it delivered I got it right out of the box. I noticed that the plated didn't actually touch all the way together. I had to use both have to force the two plated to barely touch. I overlooked this and admired how nice it looked, and how quick it heated up. I used protectant, parted my hair as normal, and went to work with my new Kipozi straightener. 10 passes. no, not 10 passes of free ice cream (I wish!) not 10 passes in basketball to make an awesome play, not 10 passes to reach my destination. TEN PASSES TO STRAIGHTEN ONE SMALL SECTION OF HAIR. usually, it takes one, MAYBE two passes to get my hair completely straight from root to tip. This thing took 10 passes to BARELY get it straightened. I still had to go over it about 5 more times after to keep it straight. I don't know if I got a dud or what, but perhaps it took so many passes because the plates barely touch. But I think I'm just making excuses for the absolutely awful straightener. It took almost an hour to do my normally 30 minute hair. How on earth are people reviewing this saying that it only took them 10 minuted to do their whole head of hair?! Is Kipozi paying for reviews?! Half of my house smells like something is burning badly. Oh, and I'll attach a picture of the amount of hair it ripped out on just one section of hair. Yes, ripped out. a lot of my hair got caught between the plates and the handles due to the design of the straightener so it sound around and ripped out. Even though I should have stopped halfway through the first section the first time I used it, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried using it two more times to make sure that it was the straightener and not me. I've been straightening my hair weekly since 2010. It's not me. It's this trash. Please do not buy this straightener. It really is terrible. I can't express enough just how bad it is. Save your time, and save your money!
