Shame On Water Pik
I have had the earlier 360 twice and of course the batteries died on both before the year was out. I have never made a claim, too much trouble and who has time. That's something Water-Pik is banking (literally) on. I said in a review on the 360 earlier I was going to be stupid and try this one but it would be the last chance for Water-Pik. So I did and in an age where battery problems like these do not have to be the case Water Pik puts sorry battery technology again in this unit. They know it and it is not an accident, but a complete rip off. The Ultra lasted less than 4 months used twice daily. Great unit for pressures and portability. Get over the small reservoir it is a portable and 3 seconds to refill, so get a life. That is why they are portable. I will NEVER own another Water Pik product. There is no excuse to market this junk. It is not as if they are unaware of the problem and therefore they are DISHONEST to be sure.
My overdue update two and a half years later. In 2008 I purchased a Panasonic EW1270 without any reviews. It worked acceptably well but at half life of the alkaline AA batteries the power would began to fall off. After two years of using it I tried it with Sanyo Eneloop rechargable and would give it 6 Stars if I could. Almost no loss of power until the batteries are ready to quit. However the model Amazon is now carrying is the Panasonic Oral Irrigator EW-DJ10-A. It appears to be almost identical to my 1270 with a slightly different nozzel at the base. The very good reviews now available lead me to believe this is a newer model and with at least the same great performance of my 1270 unit.
