I purchased this a few days ago. I experimented with it a few times this week. I read the instructions thoroughly and even Googled online videos to see how to use this product. It worked great a few times and then it ATE MY HAIR! There was no release when it sucked my hair up into it. I pulled & pulled and it would not budge. I immediately unplugged the unit and found my husband. He tried loosening some screws which did absolutely NOTHING! We were almost to the point of smashing the device with a hammer when I was able to hold the unit at a certain angle and then he was able to pry up on a piece with a screwdriver and I was able to get my hair out. Of course when I ran my hand over my now burnt hair huge clumps were left in my hand. I think they should have to install some sort of safety lever that you can press to open the unit where your hair is. This was quite painful and frightening. I am in my 30's and cannot imagine giving this to anyone I know let alone a teen-aged daughter. When we called the 1-800-3-Conair number the customer service department seemed very flippant about our complaint and told us if we felt we needed to further vent our frustrations to send an email. This is a horrible product.
