I can only assume that the positive reviews are written by people who aren’t using all of the included extensions. Unfortunately, I needed to use all of the included extension pieces to cover my 45” opening. By design, a fair amount of pressure needs to be applied at the mounting points both to properly align the gate latch and to ensure that the gate is held firmly in place. By the time all of the extensions are installed and sufficient pressure has been applied at the mounting points, however, the entire gate assembly buckled/bowed. I’ve included two pictures. In the first picture I’m using my foot to hold the gate in position and prevent it from buckling. In the second picture, I have removed my foot and you can see how badly it bowed. I returned it. It’s a bummer, but it’s simply unusable with the extensions.
