Extremely Disappointed
Initial Review - 1/10/2012
I bought the Ultimate edition because I enjoyed the original and thought the new release would work on current OS and hardware. The CD does not contain any games, just a key and a music CD...first disappointment. You have to load the Origin client (account required), use the key in the CD case to enable game downloads and then wait and wait and wait.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS GAME, the original C&C (with covert ops) is a 1.5 gb download.
Once you get it downloaded, you have to use the Origin client to launch the game (so they can track your game play and validate use rights). After the nostalgic introduction sequence the game starts and more disappointment sets in. The game scroll function based upon the sides of the screen makes play miserable. Adjusting the in-game scroll setting makes no difference, setting the mouse to slow movement and disabling acceleration no help. Disappointment is becoming irritation. The publisher couldn't bother to test this game on Win7 with modest hardware, this is just stupid, lazy and greedy. I didn't expect redone graphics that would fit in a 24" wide screen, but I did expect basic game play to work properly. Disappointed for sure.
Not sure what comes next, return the game, open a support call...ugh. Pretty close to saying DON'T BUY THIS GAME
