★★☆☆☆
Disappointed.
I've been using moleskin for YEARS ever since purchasing my first red book on a whim, saving up for the right time to buy one. I fell in love with that book. To this day it's probably one of my favorite completed journals. The quality of the paper was such that it just beckoned to be drawn on. I decided to buy another red book because I love the flashy color and I'd hoped to create another beautiful book. To my dismay drawing in it felt a lot different. I went to look at my old book and notices a very drastic difference. The GSM of the paper in the new book is WAAAYYYY lighter than my old book. This basically means in order to cut down on production costs, they skimped on their paper weight at the cost of you, the loyal consumer. I'd been a fan of these books for so long... but ever since they've switched gears towards a more commercial, less professional marketing strategy, I'm wondering if I can really keep buying these for the purpose of making art. Taking notes, yes... but the quality of these books is not for drawing anymore sad to say. :I
