BEWARE--Lot's of Problems with this APP and Subscription
If you add the Sundance Now APP via your Prime Account and link it to your FireTV, you can ONLY access Sundance Now selections via the TV loaded APP or your Amazon Prime account. If you want to access Sundance Now on a desktop computer or on a SmartTV hub to browse and select things to watch you must sign up for Sundance Now via their WebSite. Once you do that Sundance Now requires you to sign-up and pay for the service, either monthly or annually (after a 7 day free trial). And, if you have added Sundance Now as an add-on subscription via Prime, Amazon will collect a monthly subscription fee. While your e-mail address may be the same for both Amazon and Sundance Now--these two providers do not cross-reference e-mail billing addresses and just both continue to charge you. In my case I paid Sundance Now for an annual subscription in advance--assuming--that they would notify Amazon--which never happened. Neither Sundance Now nor Amazon Prime advise you that if you sign up with them individually you will be charged twice. They--both Amazon an Sundance Now--have NO internal controls to prevent customer double billings (i.e. same e-mail on two accounts, both being billed monthly). I discovered, by pure dumb luck that I was being double billed for the service since 2017. I paid Sundance Now in advance for 2017 to 2018 and again for 2018 to 2019. While Amazon prime kept charging me every moth via my Prime Account. Apparently what causes this is that Amazon Prime buys the Sundance Now service and then re-bills the customer as a subscription. Sundance Now--so they claim--only bill one e-mail A/C, the one used for the Sundance Now WebSite. Sundance Now also bills Amazon directly--in bulk--I assume. A further, CAUTION, Amazon Digital Services monthly billings for subscriptions do not notify you in advance of the charge--you will not get a monthly e-mail notification of the charge for digital content. Amazon subscriptions for products on the other hand will send an e-mail when the item ships or is being re-ordered. Not so with digital content. You will only get an e-mail confirming your sign-up and nothing further. Rather the amount only posts to your CC and appears as Amazon Digital Services with an amount. So unless you are double and triple checking your monthly CC statement and back-checking to see what it represents--you--like me will probably miss it. Also, the "Manage Your Subscription" menu on your Amazon Prime does not included a billing summary nor can you determine from the Amazon account what your monthly subscription charge is. Last, and not least, Sundance Now has absolutely NO Customer Service. You can only reach them by e-mail, and trust me, they do not respond. Thus far I have been double billed by both Amazon Digital Services and Sundance Now for 2 years for almost $300. I had a lengthy discussion with Amazon Customer Service who did confirm that they have numerous instances of double billing but have thus far not changed the methods, procedures or customer notifications to protect customer from this situation. Shocking and disappointing to say the least. At least you can speak to someone at Amazon--Sundance Now is a black silent hole.
