Coolife Does Not Stand Behind their "Three Year Worldeide Warranty"
We purchased 2 sets, based on the price, features and the "Three Year World Wide Warranty" that was the 5th bullet point on the Product Description page. When we received the suitcases, there was no documentation contained with the purchase that provided any more details on the 3 Year Warranty or the Company's repair, replace or exchange policy. On the first trip out as checked baggage, one of the 4 feet of the middle size suitcase broke off. The Airline offered to exchange it with a reconditioned used suitcase that did not match our new set. Since our luggage was under a "3 year warranty", I contacted Amazon, who put us in touch with Coolife. They did promptly exchange the damaged suitcase which was less than 6 months old at the time. But the story doesn't stop here. Now, when the same suitcase is 18 month old, but 27 months into the original 36 month warranty period, I noted, while packing for an upcoming trip, that the composite material of the side near the hinge had developed a 3 to 4 inch crack. Again, I contacted Amazon and submitted a service request. Again, Amazon referred the matter to Coolife. This time, after submitting a photo of the damage and screen a snap showing the "Warranty Terms",, Coolife refused to honor their warranty. They claimed that since the suitcase had been exchanged once, that my purchase was no longer covered by the warranty. When I requested documentation that contradicted the Warranty information used to sell their products, they advised that it was an "Internal Policy", apologized and terminated the communication. I then went back to Amazon, and they attempted to broker a resolution with Coolife, but was unable to get Coolife to fix, or exchange the single unit, or take back the entire set. Since Coolife had washed their hands, I went back to Amazon, advising them that since there was false or misleading selling points on their web-site, that they should take back the defective set for a full refund. Amazon denied that request by e-mail, claiming their 90 day return policy, and closed the Service Request. After thinking about how both Coolife and Amazon treated us, and their outright refusal to keep their customer satisfied, we decided to make one last attempt to resolve the matter, or close our Prime account. This time, after the representative read our file, and realized that my intention was to close our Prime account if a resolution was not agreed to, they stepped my claim up higher in the food chain. The bottom line, Amazon, NOT Coolife, agreed to take back BOTH sets of luggage, and credit our credit card account for the purchase price, less the State Sales Tax we were charged and less a $60 per set restocking charge. Since we did not care to own any luggage that the seller would not stand behind their warranty, we opted to return both sets. I am still bitter with Amazon about the loss of the re-stocking charge and sales tax, and I will be giving some good thought into the matter of renewing our Prime membership when it comes up for renewal as well as making future Amazon purchases. As for purchasing new luggage, we just decided on a Tumi set, with similar features, but better construction, and a lifetime warranty. I have had Tumi in the past, and their warranty service is dependable. On a final note, when searching for this product to write this review, I noted that the "World Wide Warranty" has been changed to 2 years from original 3 years that was on the site I purchased from. I wonder if they will be including their "Internal Policy" statement, limiting warranty claims to one per customer with the new purchases? You get whht you pay for, so if you want a product that the manufacturer and seller stand behind, DO NOT BUY COOLIFE FROM AMAZON OR ANYWHERE ELSE.
