I have read all of the Gabriel Allon novels by Mr. Silva. I have been an avid fan for many years, and waited with great anticipation for The Cellist to be released. The first 3/4 of the book were really quite good, but the last 25% or so deteriorated into a partisan anti-Trump and anti-Republican rant of staggering proportion, at least to me. I was shocked, to say the least. It will be my last Daniel Silva book. I wish I could get a refund but hopefully, this and other reviews of this book will give potential purchasers a pause before buying the book. It is not a matter of my personal politics -- it is more a matter of not wanting any politics in my reading of non-fiction. He should have just written a non-fiction book!
