Disappointing
We bought this vacuum to replace our aging Shark Navigator 355. The Shark was a great vacuum in terms of vacuuming, but we became exasperated with how often we had to order replacements because of failure (breakage) of various plastic parts and the vinyl (?) hoses. Nearly every part of the Shark was replaced at least once. Reminds me of the story my 8th grade teacher told about a guy who holds up a hatchet and tells his buddy it's the hatchet George Washington used to cut down the cherry tree. His buddy says, "No way! Doesn't even look old." The guy replies, "Well, of course, it's had three new heads and seven new handles..." Point being that our Shark is not the Shark we bought.
Okay, back to the Bissell. Looks nice, seems solid. The re-coiling power cord is a nice feature (yeah, until it breaks). But it lacks suction power--nowhere close to the Shark. Doesn't do well along baseboards. The crevice tool has a very tiny opening that jams easily. And the beater bar is incredibly noisy--rivals my chain saw. For $259 we're pretty disappointed. I don't like this machine; my wife hates it. Definitely would not buy this again.
