Needs tall bed to fit
I bought this bed rail assist for my mother because she suffers from arthritis on her shoulders and has hard time getting out of her bed. I thought having this handle on her bed will make it easier for her. While it was very simple to assemble, the rail legs were too high even when I set it to the lowest level. I would need to raise my mother's bed higher to meet the height required, but that would make it far more dangerous for her than having this rail device in the first place.
In order for this rail to work, the bed's platform must be 17 inches from the ground to the top of the box spring before the long stabilizer can be inserted between the box spring and the mattress. If your bed were shorter than 17 inches (as my mother's bed is), the insert will push the mattress up. The other option is to cut the legs shorter; unfortunately, I don't have a saw that can cut through the metal. The solution is for the manufacturer to lower the legs. When that happens, I'll buy another one. This one is going back.
