Unbelievable and unlikable characters and plot
I agree with one of the reviewers who said they would like their money and time back. This book is full of unlikable and unbelievable character. It also raises a lot of unanswered questions. How easy was it in the late 90's to take an international flight with a stolen baby? How easy was it in the 90's to sneak into an abortion clinic and read the client list? Who in the 90's would not tell their long time, loving boyfriend who doesn't want children, that they are pregnant and getting an abortion? Why does the author claim there were no Chinese Barbies in the 1990's, when there actually were? Why does Mia, who seems to inspire others to fight back with all guns blazing, run like a little mouse when Mrs. Richards tells her it is time to move on? Doesn't she know her put upon daughter will have to repeat the 9th grade? Why would an artist like Mia move to Shaker Heights in the first place? I could go on, but I've already wasted enough time on Little Fires.
