DOES NOT truly test battery under a practical load!!!
Called Amprobe 877-267-7623 myself earlier this morning re: BAT-250 and as I expected, this tester ONLY checks voltage NOT any amperage or "charge" as the manufacturer tries a play-on-words marketing tactic to appear as such. I am an Electrical Engineer wanting a couple extra TRUE battery testers at my disposal at additional locations and received this BAT-250 over the weekend. I test compared with another older trusting multi-selecting Radio Shack battery tester. This BAT-250 was giving false hope for batteries that still have up-to-par voltage but CANNOT withstand the actual load current demand it is designed for. I do not recommend this device as it only checks for the simple voltage aspect of a battery and not under normal real-world load condition. If still in doubt call them at 877-267-7623 to confirm for yourself. Returning mine after writing this review.
