Taste bad & less effective
I usually make my own mushroom latte but I saw this and bought it on impulse based on the top reviews saying the flavor was good so I thought it would save me a little time. Well tbh it tastes like dirt as is. It's quite bitter. I add a pinch of salt and some vanilla stevia to counteract the bitter flavor. I think the coffee and cocoa are low quality. I assumed it would be fair trade based on the price but it is not. Also it has only monk fruit as a sweetener, which a lot of people find to be bitter on its own.
I also noticed it is less effective than my DIY latte, even though it claims 1.25 g of mushrooms, and I normally use 1/4 tsp mushroom powder which is approximately 700mg. I have already noticed lower ability to sustain focus even though I drink 2 servings of this per day when I would usually have 1 DIY latte.
So this ends up being less cost effective than using my own ingredients, even though I use higher quality and fair trade ingredients. So I will go back to making my own mushroom latte after I have finished the jar.
My DIY instant mushroom latte recipe:
1/2 cup nondairy milk
1/2 cup water
1 tsp fair trade instant coffee (I use Cafe Altura)
1/2 to 1 tbsp fair trade cacao powder
1/4 tsp mushroom powder (I usually use Naturealm Sacred 7. Host Defense is also a good brand)
1 vanilla stevia packet (365 brand) or stevia drops to taste
Pinch salt
I add all these ingredients to my milk frother/warmer (VAVA brand, purchased on Amazon, regular stir attachment, not frother attachment) & it stirs it all up & warms it to drinking temp
