Delist this Product
I'd have included a photo but the Citizen customer service department has retained it after not honoring a return under warranty.
There isn't much to say about the watch other than in less than two years of everyday use, the only item that didn't show deterioration was the Eco-drive battery. The winding wheel finally broke and a jeweler was incapable of fixing it without a costly replacement part.
Attempting to redeem the warranty, I sent the broken watch to the Torrance, CA service center and was met with a string of indifferent and ultimately useless responses. The final offer to retain my business as a Citizen watch owner was a bill for $100. The watch retails new for $125.
As with so many case studies in customer retention, it's rarely about the definable monetary compensation. The attitude that a brand stands for so little is echoed in every industry. The adage of 'they don't make them like they used to' is so profoundly accurate, it doesn't bear a critique of the product. Ultimately, the watch broke and several parts needed repair in less than half the time of a warranty. Wouldn't that bother any craftsman?
If a warranty is as useless as words are in a promise, I can see no other alternative than Amazon delisting the product.
I will be making my new watch purchase elsewhere for sure.
