We’ve had this grinder a a few years now, but are researching something new now. This grinder is terrible! When we first got it I noticed it was throwing grounds all over the place. I contacted OXO, and they told me that was “standard in the industry for this type of grinder.” Seriously, they made no attempt to correct it. In looking at all the reviews online now, and pictures of people who have solved this problem by using a taller receptacle, I cannot understand how this company could not figure out how to fix this problem. Obviously they could have fixed it, it just wasn’t important to them. We now have greasy coffee bean stains all over the counter and the window blinds that sit behind the grinder. This is not the only problem with this grinder. It also stops over and over and over throughout the whole grind. You can’t just set it and go. I contacted OXO about this as well. They told me I needed to clean it. However, it doesn’t matter whether it’s clean or not. It might go for a little longer when it’s clean, but it still cannot make it through one grind session without jamming and stopping. Again, I can’t believe that OXO cannot fix this problem. Now I have to stand next to the grinder with the lid off and use a thin spatula to continuously clear the path for the beans so that they don’t jam it up. Certainly OXO could have added something that does this so that I don’t have to stand there and manually do it. I’m not sure how long they’ve been making this grinder, but when we purchased this item a few years ago I didn’t see any reviews that mentioned these problems. OXO was not interested when I called an offered no suggestions (other than cleaning). I’m shocked to see how many reviews are out there with the same problems now. This unit is absolutely not worth $200! Don’t buy it! OXO needs to fix these problems. It is a complete waste of money (and time).
