HDMI 2.1 ULTRA HIGH SPEED CERTIFIED?
All as I can say is WOW! There is a lot of misconception and misrepresentation about HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed Certified Cables floating around out there! And in all honesty, there are a lot of amazon.com vendors straight up lying about their cables being HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed Certified. First off, let me say that in order for a HDMI cable to TRULY be HDMI 2.1 Certified by the HDMI Licensing Administrator it MUST possess the HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed Certified Cable Scannable Label on the outer packaging (not to be confused with the similar looking HDMI Premium Certified Cable Label), AND it must have the words “Ultra High Speed HDMI© Cable” printed on the Outer Jacket of the cable itself. Not something similar to those words, but those EXACT WORDS. If it does not have BOTH of these, it is NOT HDMI 2.1 ULTRA HIGH SPEED CERTIFIED. PERIOD. THE END! Now please allow me to delve in a little deeper. This pretty much eliminates all HDMI Cables with Braided Jackets, as it would be impossible for consumers to ensure the cable inside the braided jacket is indeed 2.1 Certified without physically removing the jacket. I highly doubt that anyone who just plunked down $40 for a HDMI cable is going to want to do that. The 2.1 standard also eliminates ALL cables unable to deliver a MINIMUM bandwidth speed of 48Gbps and unable to support uncompressed 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz video (the 48Gbps being the important factor here). So, now this also pretty much eliminates all “thin” HDMI cables and all HDMI cables over 3 Meters (10 feet) in length, unless they are constructed of fiber optic material (and even that is no guarantee). I will not even get into the Poorly Constructed Cable factor here. Bottom Line: Do your research, and choose wisely.
