A danger for distance walking! Beware!
Brilliantly conceived. So why one star? After fracturing my ankle and needing extensive surgery I purchased the iWalk 2.0. I waited ten days after surgery, when stitches were removed to use it outside the home and walk a few New York City blocks. The strain of using the iWalk over distance immediately caused an incarcerated umbilical hernia, needing emergency surgery, and landing me in the hospital for almost a week. I asked this surgeon about using the iWalk as my ankle and foot will not be weight bearing for another four weeks and he said absolutely not or in his words “a disaster waiting to happen.” Buy the iWalk for only in home use or if you are driven to most places and use is for VERY short distances. Avoid at all costs if your goal is to replace your normal movement as the device is too heavy and cumbersome for distance. The video the iWalk developers show of a woman working at a café is just false advertising and should be removed. I wish I could return the iWalk. If you buy, beware.
