Could do without "Neotame..."
I've been using these for years and in my experience they are the best product out there as far as quality (they don't shred or break). What is disappointing is the fact that they seemed to have changed there product with the addition of Neotame and they now taste as though you just put a 1/2 cup of sugar in your mouth... No where on the description either on Amazon or the packaging does it mention any flavoring additive! I called the manufacture and after quite some time I found out that they are flavored with "Neotame" which is chemically similar to Aspartame. Why? It's a tooth flossing item, not candy!!! I'm not an alarmist but if given the choice, I'd like to opt out of consuming chemicals I don't need. And there is no reason I can think of for needing to add Neotame to teeth flossers...
Neotame is an artificial sweetener made by NutraSweet that is between 7,000 and 13,000 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar).[1] In the European Union, it is known by the E number E961.[2] It is moderately heat-stable, extremely potent, rapidly metabolized, completely eliminated, and does not appear to accumulate in the body.[3]
