★☆☆☆☆
Reader beware - this seemingly innocent romance has a nefarious real-life foundation.
It’s one thing to write a fluffy romance. It’s another thing entirely to write a fluffy romance about a very real person, and use actual moments and quotes and people and events from his life to make your story seem interesting. All this author did was change the names of the actual people she was writing about. Even this was done in a way that would be obvious to anyone familiar with the real-life actor that is the subject of this bizarre self-insert work of pseudo-fiction. All one has to do to discover the object of the author’s obsession is read the thanks section in the back. Which funnily enough, includes just about everyone in the actor’s life EXCEPT his wife of nearly a decade (gee I wonder why?) Aside from the cringe-worthy constant referrals to actual life events of the actor in what should be described more as a fanfic than a novel, the plot as well as the relationship between the main characters seems forced and unnatural. The writing is ok at best, again seeming more fit for online fan forums than bookstore shelves. If you’re a fan of RPF (real person fiction) you may like this. But if you’re looking for an actual creative work of fictional romance, look elsewhere to a book that isn’t an obsessive fan’s fantasy spun around the life of her obsession.
