Initially this little axe was very helpful in splitting firewood into tinder. The flint also worked in starting a campfire. The saw is handy for small pieces of wood. However, I was using a small steel-head hammer to split up some of the tougher pieces of firewood. After about fifty or so hits, the back of the axe head split off exposing a cheap metal core that had been dipped in harder steel. I had to throw this axe away on the first day of use.
