A gigantic piece of cheap plastic garbage
I received my Breezewell Evaporative cooler yesterday. First and foremost the machine died within 4-5 hours of having it plugged in, but that is only one of the problems. The footer assembly, required to keep the machine from falling over came with no instructions for attaching it, but okay I figured that out. I turned it on - it is LOUD, really loud, a high pitched plastic whirring loud. So I wondered if putting the water in the tank would help quiet the machine. The fill portal is on the BACK of the machine and the gauge for how much water to put in the machine is on the FRONT. Hard to tell what you are doing when you can't see. The fill portal is just a flat opening in the body, I had to find a pitcher with a spout (I used a watering can) in order to fill it without spilling water everywhere. Oh, but to get to the fill portal (remember it's on the back) you have to move the whole machine - well the fancy footer (mentioned above) is concave with a hard lip that sinks into the carpet - you have to pick up the whole machine to turn it so that you can put in the water. Finally, I get the water in, pick up the the machine (now with a gallon of water in it) so that it faced into the room and turned it on. Yes, having water in the tank quieted the machine. However, it now spits water across anything in its path - not a mist - spitting droplets. But my room was cooler so I went to bed only to be woken because I was broiling hot - the machine had died. I unplugged it, re-plugged it, turned off, turned it on... the only thing it will do is oscillate. No fan, no evaporation. There are no trouble shooting instructions in the 5 page book of warnings. Final design flaw, I have to drain out the water so I can ship this POS back. The drain whole is on the bottom of the whole machine - I now have to pick up the machine which is cumbersome and heavy because it's full of water and haul it to my bathroom so I can set it in the tub to drain it. I am a petite 62 year old, hauling this piece of junk around is not so easy. So now I am the proud owner of a gigantic piece of plastic garbage which will go to a landfill after not even one use. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE Breezewell is offering a $50 Amazon coupon if I write a review - gee do you think I will still get that?
