Highly Overrated Micro-plastic Creator
These sponges are overrated.
They start off looking cool, acceptable scent, clean dishes better than average, and seem to do a very good job of not building smells (bacteria). On the last topic, sure, they're good.
I realized quickly that the soap kinda flows right through the sponge, and it doesn't create soap bubbles very well unless you squeeze the sponge 2-3 times, which also causes more soap to leave the sponge.
One big difference with these sponges is that they do NOT absorb water. You can't use them to wipe up a wet counter (before washing the counter itself). We end up using more paper towels when these sponges are in-use.
These sponges also disintegrate much faster than classic sponges. While some of the classic blue sponges w/ a scratchy side will sometimes flake off some soft foamy pieces, these peach sponges start to shed little orange pieces of plastic. Oddly, these pieces feel like food particles, so it seems like the dish isn't clean. Plus, the sponge starts to look ratty. I added a photo of one right before I tossed it in the trash. I tried to use the second one a bit longer. Then, I got quite the surprise when I came to post this review - some people are using these sponges a LOT longer than I can stand to use them, especially the one photo where it doesn't even look like the same product (people, that's just not healthy or safe)
Interesting concept but I won't be buying these again.
Update: others in the household liked these, so they’ve been repurchased. However, I’ve learned to dislike them even more because they disintegrate into tiny orange pieces and I realized that I’m creating more micro-plastics in the world.
