BUYER BEWARE! This is NOT a composter. It's an expensive combination oven-and-grinder that dries food scraps into a powder w(hich the accompanying literature calls, in fine print, "soil amendment").
The Food Cycler entirely misses the composting process, which involves bacterial fermentation and decomposition. Sure, it drastically reduces the volume of food waste and the resulting powder is not smelly. But then what?
We are city dwellers with no garden to compost in, and travel too much to keep a worm bin. Thinking the Food Cycler was worth a shot to help us reduce food garbage, we we shelled out the big bucks. We sprinkled the Food powder into the soil of our indoor plants to enrich it, but instead found that it quickly turned stinky and moldy.
I wish there had been more reviews and information available when we bought this. I wish we'd done better research before blowing $400. Save yourself the frustration and spend your cash on something worthwhile.
