I have an Etsy store and started sewing purses using heavier fabric; already have 2 Brother machines that are great, but wanted something to do the heavier stitching. Got this machine and used it daily. Sometimes it sewed through the layers great, other times it didn't sew through even light weight materials. Also, when you start stitching, the beginning stitches of a seam do not catch; so if you do not back stitch about 5 stitches, your seam unravels when you go to cut the threads (back stitching 1-2 stitches didn't help). Finally got to the point where I got my other machine out, it sewed the stitch this machine refused to sew. Sewed another seam on the new machine. Nothing. Sewed again on my old machine without a hitch. Since this machine is twice what I paid, it was sent back for a refund. It makes no sense, but I'm sure glad I used it every day rather than sewing on it once and setting it aside. Since all I did was basic straight stitching, can't evaluate anything else, but since it failed on that...
