You need to know that air purifying machines are nothing more than fans, with proprietary filters you stick in them. the machine itself is nothing other than a fan blowing air from your room through a filter. the technology that's filtering your air has NOTHING to do with the machine itself, just the filter it's using. theres many different filters for filtering out different things. if you have allergens, you want ionizing and hepa filter, because this will help catch the stuff thats bothering you. if you want to filter cigarette smoke or fumes, you want carbon filters as they do this job best, but arent as good for allergies. the cheap models like this one have very weak fans, and only offer hepa or ionizing filters. this model imparticular only offers a basic hepa with a very weak fan. it will filter dust and other light allergens like pet hair, but because the fan is so weak on it, it can't really use more than a basic HEPA filter. you're better off spending the extra money on an air purifier that comes with multiple filters, and possibly a technology to tell you when to replace them. it might cost a bit more, but in the end if you want quality air, you need to get something ionizing, hepa, and even carbon if you are anti cigarette smoke. please head this review, and go elsewhere, and if you have this model simply take the filter out, and turn the fan on, and feel how weak it is, i'd rather glue the hepa filter to a box fan, i'd get more out of it than this piece of junk. 1 star, ignore this garbage buy a better machine. EDIT: People are telling me my reviews good and they like it, but they're disapointed i didn't recommend a better machine as they're still hunting. i recommend "Surround Air XJ-3800 Intelli-Pro Air Purifier" it costs about 180 bucks but it works as good as the hospital purifiers in quality. it makes my eyes stop burning from second hand cigarette smoke within 5 minutes of running on high, and very noticably removes odors in your room. highly recommended if you're looking for a real quality machine.
