I thought this was a great Blender, but wait until until you have owned ...
I dont understand how these reviews are mostly positive.. I thought this was a great Blender, but wait until until you have owned it for 6 months and you will see its is FAR BELOW PAR quality, this blender is worse than the cheap blenders iv'e ever owned!!
The Idea is good, but the QUALITY and DESIGN is BAD. I RETURNED THIS BLENDER 2 TIMES, AND EACH BLENDER I HAVE RECEIVED IS ONLY GOOD FOR 3-5 MONTHS!! I thought maybe I received a lemon, but I am on my 3rd blender now and it's the same design flaw.
Here are what makes this blender 1 star.
1. The lid with the integrated blade- Has a major design flaw, the bearing / bushing (i doubt it uses bearings) where the blade spins wears down very fast, the vibration causes it to wear and get loose and eventually starts leaking liquids onto the motor during operation... this vibration causes it to make the motor work harder, and makes noise considerably louder, not to mention whatever plastic / bushing metal dust that may be going into your food!!!
2. I read about this issue on some reviews, but I thought it was untrue because of so many other great reviews, obviously the great reviews must be from using it the few first days... but after only 3-4 months I noticed the noise was louder, and fluids started leaking onto the motor.. now I can literally wiggle the blade within its housing from the wearing.. and the noise just makes it a pain to use it.
3. I would think the manufacturer would use a quality sealed bearing for this price!! There are quality sealed bearings in the manufacturing market available that if used would've made this product great. I am positive they are getting much much complaints on this flaw but of course they want to save a few dollars.
4. After I was unable to return my 3rd Ninja.. I was basically stuck with this faulty design only after a total of 1 year or so after originally purchased, as the store eventually deleted my purchase record, and said I couldn't return it anymore.. so I can say that each of the 3 same blenders only lasted 3-4 months without this issue... So I just kept using it and figured I would just use the remaining life of the lid/blades, and today the motor started smoking!! so I conclude that the vibration of the blade creates added stress to the motor, thus over heating it?
I had hopes and was happy with this blender, but the design / quality is just bad... I don't recommend it to anyone.
