I wanted to start to brew Kombucha, so I searched for a scoby and based on reviews I went with this seller. What I got looked nothing like the pictures posted by the seller or by some of the other purchasers in 2013. I wonder if this company is having a third party pack some of its orders? The packaging did not say Rocky Mountain Kombucha; it was sent from some seller called "poseymom." This was a complete joke of a product. The description says that the product is a Live Organic Culture with starter tea in a heat sealed pouch. If you read most Komboucha "how to" sites, instructions indicate using 1/2 cup to 1 cup of starter liquid. First, I don't think that I received a healthy scoby and I highly doubt that there was a teaspoon of starter liquid. The pouch was not heat sealed - it was like a zip lock bag that was easily opened and didn't require scissors. The product description says, "Most of our scoby will measure approximately 1/2" thick and approximately 3-4" wide (varies.) With this ONE purchase - you can brew unlimited batches of on-going kombucha for you and your friends or family for little investment." This was also false. What I received was thin - no where near 1/2 inch and was only 3 inches wide when I pressed down on the packaging and the creamy white material spread out. I was so disappointed by this product, that I bought a Kombucha Kamp scoby, which was exactly as described; it came with starter liquid, was thick, substantial, and able to be used immediately. The Kombucha Kamp scoby also came in a heat sealed pouch. I have attached a few photos of the Kombucha Kamp scoby compared to this product. I started two batches - one with the Rocky Mountain scoby and the other with the Kombucha Kamp scoby. When I deposited the Rocky Mountain scoby, it squirted out like confetti. A week later, that batch did nothing. The Kombucha Kamp scoby is starting to develop bubbles. I used a heating pad for several hours a day with both batches. I cannot recommend this product. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
